Gran Turismo Sport Game Update Arrives February 24
Somewhat unexpectedly, there’s a new update coming to GT Sport this month. It’ll be the first update to the game this year, following on from the 1.62 update back in November 2020.

Polyphony Digital announced the update as part of a post on the official site regarding an upcoming period of server maintenance. This takes place on Wednesday February 24, three days before the new FIA Online Championship Exhibition Season gets underway on February 27. The announcement reads as follows:

Gran Turismo Sport Game Update Arrives March 25
Gran Turismo Sport is shortly going to get its second update this year, and the second in just over four weeks, according to a new in-game announcement.

Players logging into the game today will receive a notification of a server maintenance period taking place on March 25. The maintenance itself isn’t out of the ordinary, as it takes place at the same time as the usual weekly server maintenance, but the fact it’s specifically announced is. That’s because a game update will follow on once the servers are back up.

Kazunori Yamauchi Will Keep Making Gran Turismo, Also Wants to "Do Something Different"
https://home.kpmg/jp/en/home/insights/2021/04/ignition-odyssey-11-1.html

“Well, I intend to continue Gran Turismo going forward, which will be in the same boat as the car culture and automobile industry. At the same time, I would like to also do something different.
“I think that one of the missions of video games is to realize digital twins by connecting the real and digital worlds. On the other hand, I also think that “the reality that can be felt by humans may not necessarily be felt from something real,” and I intend to confront this question for sure.
“I would like to take on the challenge of creating a world where people feel more reality than the real thing, whether this is through Gran Turismo or not.”

Sucht man vergebens.

Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.65 Arrives, Adds Olympic Virtual Series Support

It’s one of the largest updates we’ve seen recently, coming in at over 3GB, but — as expected — this doesn’t translate directly to new content. Instead the major focus is on the Olympic Virtual Series, which is set to get underway within GT Sport later this week.

Gran Turismo ist jetzt olympisch  :panik:

The five sports and games will be:

  • Baseball – World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) – eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2020 (Konami)
  • Cycling – Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) – Zwift (Zwift)
  • Motorsport – Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) – Gran Turismo (Polyphony Digital)
  • Rowing – World Rowing – TBA
  • Sailing – World Sailing – Virtual Regatta (Virtual Regatta)
Gran Turismo is something of a standout in that list too. The four other sports have all appeared at the official Summer Olympic Games, and all form part of the current set of disciplines at the Games. Motorsport has no representation in the Olympics — although it did appear in an unofficial capacity in the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris — so this is also a debut for motorsport as an Olympic event.

IOC President Thomas Bach said:

“The Olympic Virtual Series is a new, unique Olympic digital experience that aims to grow direct engagement with new audiences in the field of virtual sports. Its conception is in line with Olympic Agenda 2020+5 and the IOC’s Digital Strategy. It encourages sports participation and promotes the Olympic values, with a special focus on youth.”

Habe mal seit ca 3 Monate pause heut emal wieder GT Sport gestartet.

Mai:
I revisited GTS last night.
Loaded the Nordschleife to have a drive with the AMG Mercedes and I was hit hard... not by traffic or guardrails but from the gameplay itself.
Boy oh boy... when I first commented here I had a different feeling. Now, a few more weeks into sim racing (ACC), GTS now feels so freaking arcady! Really, I was driving like a madman, more rally style than GT3, and the game did not punish me for doing so. Cutting curbs, sliding, full throttle, full brakes, oversteer and understeer... I was all over the place and I am not enjoying this anymore (as I did before).

ACC really is what I like right now, getting to know more and more about Motorsport, about driving technics, about really driving a sports car!! I love it.

Sure, as GT is like a friend who’s with me for so long, I’ll buy GT7 for sure. But I think I’ve fallen for the real deal, aka SimRacing!
Just saying. You guys stay safe and have a good day!

Edit: never thought I’d say this, but what else can I do than being honest?! It’s just my personal preference atm!
don’t wanna sound harsh.
So glad I’m not alone.

GTS is not ruined for me, but I have to admit, since I’ve been driving ACC for the first time on my PS5, 3 weeks ago, I played GTS just one more time, then deinstalled it.

Already ACC teached me so much about driving, got me so immersed and hooked to wanting to know more...! It’s unreal.
Consider me infected to Sim Racing.

Looking forward to the PS5 version!

hallo nochmal,
