Sony hopes to sell a million copies of Freedom Wars, wants it to become a series

SCE producer Junichi Yoshizawa recently interacted with a fan on Twitter regarding Freedom Wars. Yoshizawa commented on how Sony hopes to sell a million copies, and has a “desire to grow the series.”

Yoshizawa’s comments in full:

Thank you for your hope in Freedom Wars! Yes! As for the title, we aim to sell a million copies. It’s worked on with the desire to grow the series. Also, I don’t think a “boom” is measured only with numbers.

Yoshizawa followed with the following when the same fan expressed some concerns about Freedom Wars’ sales:

Thank you very much for your reply! It has a much larger scale because it’s a title for which we aim to achieve a “boom.” While we’ll be aware of the situation of sales, let’s enjoy it to the fullest, because it’s a game!

You’re not the only trapped in a prison for centuries. Freedom Wars has other key characters like Beatrice "Lilly" Anastasi voiced by Akiba’s Trip 2 voice actress Eriko Nakamura. Junichi Suwabe (Archer in Fate/stay) is Able "Strafe" Balto, a rival character in Freedom Wars.

Freedom Wars comes out in Japan this summer.

Freedom Wars will only cost $30

It looks like Freedom Wars will be seeing a slight budget release – at least based on the launch prices of other PS Vita titles.
Amazon and GameStop both have the game listed for $29.99. While we do see $30 PS Vita prices from time to time, $40 is more common – though it’s something consumers certainly welcome.
Freedom Wars will launch in North America later this year.
