First, it's not Ancel who found it, it's Frédéric Houde, Rayman's co-creator. Congrats to every news site for getting it wrong.

Second, for those who think it's gonna be released, what was found is a single prototype level with no enemies, not a finished game. The SNES was dropped early in the process. It's not a game, it's just Rayman running around.

Reviews: Here!

Star Fox 2 is the long-lost follow-up to the original Star Fox / Starwing. Originally planned for release in 1995 or 1996, the game expanded the scope of the original with all-range mode battles and strategic elements, powered by the enhanced SuperFX2 Chip used in Yoshi's Island. Star Fox 2's release was canceled in favor of Star Fox 64 for the N64. The interviews in the LEGACY section show how Star Fox 2 influenced later games in the series and how the developers kept coming back to ideas from this lost treasure. The leaked ROMs of Star Fox 2 that people have had access to over the years have never been of the fully finished, polished, and Mario Club-playtested version and even lacked some core features. It is now available for the first time as part of the SNES Classic emulation-based micro-console developed by NERD (Nintendo European Research & Development).

Ziemlich verrücktes Project:

SNES Spiele hacken damit die auf der viel schnelleren CPU der Cartridges mit SA-1 Chip laufen.

Damals, als Cartridges schneller waren als die Konsole ~lol~

SA-1 Root is a project for enabling and accelerating games using the SA-1 chip. It's a pack of patches that optimizes the game to the maximum possible keeping high hardware compatibility and keeping most of the game aspects intact.
SA-1 (Super Accelerator) is a co-processor included on some SNES games cartridges. It is made to work together with the Super NES CPU and used to enhance its processing speed, graphics and memory.

With its 10.74 MHz clock, the SA-1 CPU is four times faster than the normal SNES CPU processing. The SA-1 CPU and SNES CPU also runs simultaneously, which can result in up to five times faster processing over a game with no enhancement chips. Using that power, the Super Accelerator System (SAS) can be used to process game engines much faster than the normal, allowing more sprites to be processed at once, more in-game effects, faster loading and much more.

SA-1 Root not just activates the co-processor, but also modifies a good part of the game engine to use and explore the chip features, which gives an extreme boost to the overall performance of the game.

I was challenged to convert this SA-1 game and I accepted the challenge. A game that used to run at about 4 FPS now runs at about 30 FPS with the SA-1 chip, runs much smoother without getting too fast. In addition it includes some enhancements to make the game feel more realistic. The SA-1 is an enhancement chip that runs at 10.74 MHz instead of SNES CPU's 2.68 MHz.

Just like my other conversions, this one moves the entire memory to the SA-1 side and moves almost the whole processing to the SA-1 CPU side. Just like Super R-Type, this uses SA-1 as coordinator but uses parallelism even more compared to Super R-Type, since most of the timing logic still stays on the SNES side and runs in parallel with the SA-1 chip. In addition, the game now uses all memory RAM extensively: I-RAM, BW-RAM and WRAM. With all optimizations included, the game runs up to 1000% faster compared with original.

Update:
