Without Memory is a new PS4 exclusive created in Unreal Engine 4, and its developer Dinosaurum Games has just opened the title’s official site. It’s got some initial details and pieces of artwork.

Over on the Dinosaurum Games site, Without Memory has been slated for a 2016 launch and is described as a third-person psychological thriller inspired by Quantic Dream’s work, which includes Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

The Google-translated synopsis explains that Without Memory is, “the story of how one moment can change the life of an ordinary girl who was no different from other people. Anna suddenly wakes up in the woods and realizes that just does not remember anything. She knows no address, no information about themselves and very frightened. Any actions and actions directly affect the storyline and the state of the protagonist.

“You have to survive in harsh conditions, to make difficult decisions for which will have to bear responsibility. And finally – get the truth. Before our eyes, Anna will grow and develop. She learns to trust or to detect lies. The player’s actions will depend on the attitude of all the other characters.”

Similar to games like Heavy Rain, Without Memory will make use of what the team calls a “modernized” take on quick-time events that will be revealed at a later date that will, “transform gameplay into a fascinating passage, not just boring keystrokes that looks like: «Press X to win»”

PS4 Exclusive Without Memory Will Use SpeedTree for “Realistic Forests;” 3D Scans of the Protagonist Shared
Dinosaurum Games is hard at work on the upcoming PS4 exclusive thriller Without Memory, that is now in the early stages of active development aiming for a 2016 release.
The studio announced that the SpeedTree toolkit will be used to create “beautiful and realistic forests,” even thanks to the high level of compatibility with Unreal Engine 4.
In addition to that, we also get the first 3D scans for the protagonist, which you can see below. Of course they still need to be turned into a fully rigged 3D model and animated, but it’s still a little sneak peek while we wait for the teaser trailer reveal at GDC Europe.

PS4 Exclusive Without Memory Gets Update, Team Striving to Reach 1080p/60FPS; Trailer Might Be Delayed
Moscow-based studio Dinosaurum Games provided a new batch of information today on its PS4 exclusive thriller adventure Without Memory. Thanks to new posts on the developer’s blog and its VK community we learn more on what’s going on with development.
The folks at Dinosaurum are continuing to improve the first demo level of the game and to search for new employees. They’re also negotiating with publishers.
They’re also working on the motion capture sequences they acquired last week, and cleaning them up. At the bottom of the post you can see a gallery of pictures taken directly from the PCs of the animators of the game, showing the process. According to the studio, the cleaning process is long and tedious, but it’s also indispensable to get a good result.
They also mentioned that the new 4.3 version of Unreal Engine allows them to use SpeedTree on the level which will be used in the first trailer, but they also outsourced some more high poly-models of vegetation to use on top of the popular middleware.
In addition to that, it was also mentioned that the first forest level has been tested at 1080p and they were reaching 50 frames per second. Though the level wasn’t optimized and test was not yet performed on PS4, but on a PC 2.5 times less powerful as Sony’s console.
The finished level will be tested exclusively on PS4, and the team is “striving” to reach 60 FPS at full HD resolution.
Dinosaurum games is also working with an external 3D modeling studio which previously collaborated to the creation of the levels of Crysis 3. Unfortunately the process is taking longer than expected and the studio may decide to delay the release of the first trailer from August (it was expected at GDC Europe) to early fall in order to deliver the highest possible quality.
Finally, we earn that the studio believes it has sufficient funding to reach “AAA” quality, but they might still resort to crowdfunding in order to secure further resources.

Ich find's ja immer gut, wenn ein Entwickler so offen mit seinen Prozess umgeht und uns einen Einblick gewährt. Macht das ganze sympathischer. Auf jeden Fall klingen die Menschen, soweit man das von einem Beitrag beurteilen kann, ambitioniert und willig gute Arbeit abzuliefern.

PS4 Exclusive Without Memory Finally Gets First Trailer; Starts Crowdfunding Among Harsh Criticism
After a few delays, the Russian developer Dinosaurum Games finally released the first trailer of its upcoming PS4 exclusive Without Memory, and you can see it at the bottom of the post.
As you can probably notice by yourself, quite a few aspects of the trailer are quite rough (to put it gently), and received rather harsh criticism on the studio’s VK community.
The folks at Dinosaurum posted a message mentioning that they appreciate the insight and constructive criticism, admitting that they don’t match the standards of bigger developers like Naughty Dog, even due to the lack of funds.
That’s why they resorted to a Boomstarter (the Russian Kickstarter knock-off) campaign in order to raise funding, asking for the support of the community not just monetarily, but also including feedback and moral support.
They also mentioned that the game is very early in development and they aren’t giving up on making an “AAA level” title. In addition to that we also learn that the trailer was recorded without any pre-rendering.
Finally, they explained that they understand that there are glitches and problems with the trailer, and that it didn’t live up to the expectations that the studio itself contributed to create, concluding with the promise to do better and fix the quite visible shortcomings.
The Boomstarter campaign can be found here, even if at the moment it’s not being exactly successful, with only 12 backers and 5810 Rubles (about $107) raised of the 990,000 goal ($18,300).
It’s hard to say if the enthusiastic but clearly inexperienced team at Dinosaurum Games will manage to salvage the project. Some of the screenshots looked good, but especially character animation, rigging and quite a few other details obviously need a lot of work.
