Rockstar: GTA IV multiplayer 360 and PS3

Don Mattrick may have let slip something that he shouldn't have: that the online multiplayer portion of Grand Theft Auto IV will only be available on 360.

UPDATE: Rockstar has confirmed to CVG that "both versions of Grand Theft Auto IV will have an online multiplayer component", so it looks like Mattrick did get his words mixed up.

Speaking on a Major Nelson podcast the two Microsoft execs spend most of the time saying the word 'Microsoft' (count 'em) and patting each other on the back about how great 360 is doing. And why wouldn't they?

Mattrick says that it's "an amazing piece of software and I'm really excited with its downloadable content and online multiplayer support. Again, that's something that's unique to 360." He added, "We think consumers are going to love that and it's going to create, what I would describe again as the premium experience on our platform."

Also das wäre ja die Härte, wenn das Rockstar Games macht, nach dem erfolg mit der PS2. Ich glaube dann werde ich M$ dafür Hassen und wie!!

Mehrspieler-Elemente von Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3, Xbox 360) scheint es wohl exklusiv nur in der Xbox 360-Version geben. Das sagte Don Mattrick, Senior Vice President von Microsoft, im Podcast von Major Nelson.

'Es ist ein unglaubliches Stück Software, und ich freue mich wirklich über die herunterladbaren Inhalte und die Online-Mehrspieler-Unterstützung, etwas, das einzigartig auf der Xbox 360 ist', erklärte Mattrick.

Weder Rockstar Games noch Microsoft haben sich bislang zu Mattricks Aussage geäußert.

Das ist wieder so typisch MS. Alles wird so hingestellt, das es Exklusiv ist. Also ohne offizielle Meldung glaub ich schon lange nichts mehr, aktulle Bsp. ME, GeoW und LP. Alles XBox360 exklusiv laut MS, denoch kommen alle für den PC und LP sogar auf die PS3.

Das wär schade, wenn das im fertigen Spiel auch so ist. Ich hab mir eigentlich das Gegenteil erhofft.

Ja das wär wirklich schade, ich dachte dadurch das es nur eine Stadt ist, das sie viel mehr atmosphäre sprich leute und autos reinbringen, denn New York ist ja voll.

Aber es hieß ja auch das es Staus und so geben wird.

Hab mir jetzt ma nochma alle Trailer angesehen + die paar kleinen Platz-/Personenvorstellungen auf der Homepage und dort sieht es meistens echt "leer" aus auf den Straßen, erstrecht für ne Großstadt wie NY. (Ausnahme ist der erste Trailer "Things will be different", da sieht man manchmal mehr belebtere Straßen)

Aber naja, solange ich noch keinen richtigen Ingametrailer gesehen habe, werde ich noch nicht darüber urteilen. Ist halt nur ne Befürchtung und wär schon schade.

Was denkt ihr, wird der Zusatzinhalt (was auch immer es sein möge) so gut sein, dass man sich das Spiel lieber für die 360 holt? Ich denke, dass das beste Argument der geringere Preis der Konsole sein wird.

Wenn du beide Konsolen besitzt und auch Besitzer eines XBOX-Live Accountes bist, dann würde ich erst abwarten, welche Portierung besser ist!

Äh, die 360 ist doch nicht billiger? Die PS 3 bietet wesentlich mehr, online ist umsonst...

Es ist auch kiene Portierung, sondern eine parallele Entwicklung und laut einer onpsx news der letzten tage, soll die PS 3 Fassung von GTA IV genauso gut aussehen wie die 360 Version.

Die Verfolgungsjagd mit den Booten ist hübsch anzusehen und das Bild daneben mit der Baustelle im Hintergrund. Dürfen wir wieder Kranwagenfahrer spielen?!

I can read spanish as you can see by my Colombian flag and in the article it says that we can go to the top of the statue of happiness and we will find a shirt of rememberance (which I don't know what it exactly means). So at least we can go to the top. It also says that they flew a helicopter and took it really high and the view was unbelievable, they could actually see all 5 of the islands. "Like a picture", they said that the horizontal view extended very far and everything moved with no pop ups and very fluid.
