Foo Fighters Finish New Album Writing, Hint at 2014 Release
Dave Grohl of
Foo Fighters made it official that the band wrapped up their new album writing and is looking to drop the "
Wasting Light" follow-up sometime during next year.
As the frontman told
XFM, things are only cooking up among the Foos ranks, noting that 2014 will undoubtedly be huge for the rockers.
"We have been in our studio writing and in the past few weeks we've written an album and we are going to make this album in a way that no-one's ever done before and we're pretty excited about it," Grohl said.
The singer/guitarist pointed out that the record will surely be a unique one.
"It's a little ways off - it's not ready to happen right now but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question," he said. "It's going to be great, I can't wait."
Drummer
Taylor Hawkins previously stated that the five-piece
is still warming up to sink their teeth into new material writing, believing that the Foos still haven't delivered their greatest hit.
"Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he's got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually," he told Billboard. "Although some people may feel we have, I still think we haven't written our 'Hotel California' or our 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or whatever."
As the seventh record in the band's catalogue, "Wasting Light" saw its release in April 2011 via RCA Records, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 235,000 units sold in the US during the first week.
