Namco Bandai Games has revealed that the forthcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2, set for release in Arcades this autumn, has won an award at the recent SIGGRAPH 2011 event. SIGGRAPH is the recognised body for computer animation and interactive works, and this year many videogames companies were highlighted as leaders in the field.
Guerrilla Games held a presentation at the event, entitled ‘Animation Workflow in Killzone 3: A Fast Facial Retargeting System for Game Characters’, as well as a production session simple called ‘The Creation of Killzone 3’. NVIDIA also presented a number of talks at the show, including an Exhibitor Session aimed directly at mobile devices and their producers: ‘Tools for Mobile Photography and Vision’.
Star of the show for the videogames industry however, was surely Namco Bandai Games’ Tekken Tag Tournament 2, for which the opening CG movie won a coveted animation award at the event.
