Sony Doesn't Regret Passing Up God Of War II On PS3

What if God of War II would have launched with the PS3? Don’t be surprised if your head begins aching from the possibilities. We recently chatted with Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment’s senior vice president of product development, about the decision to go ahead and release Kratos’s second god-murdering adventure on the PS2 late in the console’s life.

When asked whether he thought God of War II should have been delayed in order to be a PS3 launch game, Yoshida said “We had a lot of debates about it, actually. I always firmly stood by keeping it on PS2. Many people, including marketing, suggested that maybe it should be moved to PS3. What I believed was that God of War II would be the best-selling and best game of the year. We had always seen that, at the launch of a platform, the developer has to spend a lot of time becoming familiar with the platform and software tools. Technical issues take up a lot of the development, perhaps leaving less time for really polishing the game. Towards the end of a platform is when you see really great games, after developers really begin to understand the hardware.

“In the God of War franchise,” he continued, “I saw an opportunity for the Santa Monica team to complete their vision for the second game on a platform they totally understood. That was my argument and the company and team supported it. I’m very happy with the result. So to your question, I have never regretted the fact that we released God of War II on PS2.”

God of War III will last 15-20 hours

We’ve heard before that God of War III is at least ten hours long. According to the latest issue of Spanish gaming magazine Hobby Consolas, God of War II will last the player anywhere from fifteen to twenty hours depending on the difficulty played.

“It’s a difficult question to answer right now because we are still “testing” and may change,” God of War III director Stig Asmussen told the magazine, “but I imagine it would last about the same time that lasted for the previous two chapters (15 to 20 hours depending on difficulty level).”

So würde ich das auch sehen.

Kann auch nie verstehen wieso manche behaupten GoW2 wäre auch nur um die 10std. Die meisten die ich kenne haben alle weit über 12std. gebraucht. Also von daher passt schon, die speed gamer sind sowieso ein fall für sich. Kommt immer auf die spielweise drauf an.


Kennt hier jemand die verkaufszahlen von GoW1 und GoW2 ??(

Der 2 Teil hat sich auf jeden Fall schwächer verkauft glaub 1.7 mill ?

New God of War III art released

Some new art for God of War III has gotten out.

Find them over at UGDB.

Awesome stuff, innit.

The hack-and-slash epic is being looked at for a March 19 release in the UK, according to SCEE.

Nothing is properly confirmed thus far, however.

US retailer GameStop has it down for a American release of March 16.

So far, the only confirmed date is March 25 for Japan.

SCEE told us yesterday that the Special Edition of the game, which was revealed on Monday night, will miss the UK.

The only editions available will be the standard edition and the Ultimate Trilogy Edition, which will cost £110.
