We’re only a few days away from Dragon’s Crown release in Japan, while North American gamers will have to wait a bit longer until August the 6th, and Atlus is still unveiling new details on the upcoming side scrolling JRPG by Vanillaware.
Today we learn that the game will have three different level caps depending on the level of difficulty. Upon challenging the game for the first time only “Normal” difficulty will be available, with a level cap of 35. Meeting certain conditions linked to the story will unlock the ”Hard” mode, bringing a level cap of 65 and allowing more room for progression.
Upon clearing Hard mode players will unlock “Inferno” difficulty, that brings the level cap up to 99. And that’s not all, as clearing Inferno mode will unlock the Labyrinth of Chaos, an automatically generated dungeon that changes every time it’s challenged.
The publisher also announced that there’ll be items that will allow a reset of learned skills, but those items will be acquired only upon meeting some rather challenging conditions.
Looks like the game will have some beefy longevity, even if we still have to see how much repetition of the same content will figure in that equation.

I rounded up all the info we have so far on the differences between the two versions:

Vita
+ OLED screen making the game prettier.
+ Touch controls to pick up stuff/open chests.
+ The ability to take screenshots.
- Framerate buckles under pressure when heaps of stuff is happening on the screen
- Easier to loose track of your character due to the smaller screen.

PS3
+ A more stable framerate.
+ Play it on a big T.V.
+ A little easier to keep track of your character.
- Having to move the cursor to pick up stuff/open chests.
- Can’t take screenshots.
Trying to hit the runes are no doubt a pain in the ass on ps3... and even if you get really fast at it, when the problem truly rears its ugly head is when your trying to activate it in a room full of enemies. Sure you can wait till you kill them all but it sucks every time you do this, and the rune you activate was a huge attack or buff for the enemies and now their all dead anyways. That said it doesn't ruin the game. Just annoying. Though the slowndow on the vita is intense at times as well... but the activation of runes is a piece of cake.

Vita oder~wat~ PS3?

Lieber bricht mir die Framerate leicht ein als das ich auf die Runen verzichten muss mid-battle.
Aber trotzdem schade..

polygon sagte:
"Dragon's Crown is a fantasy-obsessed teenaged boy's dream"

"Dragon's Crown's serious liberties with female anatomy are distracting. Two player characters — the Amazon and the Sorceress — are explicitly sexualized, with breasts literally bigger than their heads with rear ends to match, and plenty of the screen real estate is dedicated to their respective jiggles and sashays."

"The same can't be said for the female NPCs that fill Dragon's Crown's dungeons and other environments. Most of the women in the game are barely clothed, with heaving chests, backs twisted into suggestive positions, some with their legs spread almost as wide as the screen. They're presented as helpless objects, usually in need of rescue. It's obvious, one-sided and gross."

"Dragon's Crown is an unapologetic adolescent fantasy"

Score: 6.5/10

"Mimimi, ich mag nicht wie Frauen in dem Spiel dargestellt sind, deswegen ist das Spiel scheiße! Spaß hatte ich aber eigentlich trotzdem..."
Blöde Kuh.

Destructoid gab eine 9.5, IGN eine 8,5. Videospieljournalismus mein Arsch.

fragt sich wer da das kind ist...immer dasselbe...auch bei animes/mangas das gleiche,sieht man dauernd irgendwelche männer halb nackt 'no one bats an eye' sieht man halb nackte frauen und'everyone loses their minds' *joker... und dann kommen fanservice diskussionen^^;

Level 99 ~challengeaccepted~ )

http://www.nisamerica.com/index.php?nav=n&article=pbomb/PrinnyBomb_Vol373.html

Meanwhile, Dragon’s Crown appears to have received a new shipment after the PlayStation 3 version of the game sold out at launch. The PS3 version of Dragon’s Crown jumped from nearly 14,000 copies sold last week to nearly 21,000 copies sold this week. Impressive.
