Neues Review: PlayStation VR 2

Als die PlayStation VR Brille damals für die PS4 auf den Markt kam, war der Virtual Reality Trend gerade voll im Gange - ein paar Jahre später existiert die Szene zwar noch (vor allem auf dem PC), aber VR-Spiele konnten sich in der Masse nicht durchsetzen. Zu viele Kompromisse bei Technik und Komfort mussten gemacht werden. Sony will aber nicht aufgeben und hat nun mit der PlayStation VR2 ein brandneues Headset für die PS5 veröffentlicht. Dieses Technikpaket soll viele Misstände, welche den Vorgänger plagten, beheben. Das hat allerdings auch seinen Preis mit 600€ kostet das gute Stück wesentlich mehr als der Vorgänger und ebenfalls mehr als die PS5 Konsole. Mal schauen ob das überhaupt jemand will außer ein paar Enthusiasten. Mich hätte es auch nicht gewundert wenn PSVR1 ohne Nachfolger geblieben wäre.

Ich wäre wohl dabei, allerdings nicht mehr zum Start Soweit ich das in Erinnerung habe hat Sony doch von unerwartet guten Verkaufszahlen für die PSVR1 gesprochen, oder?
Ich freue mich auf jeden Fall, dass ich als PSVR Release-Day Käufer für den Erfolg und somit der Weiterentwicklung beigetragen habe

We’re not calling it anything at the moment.

So the obvious question is what’s changed from the first headset?

So this will be a completely new VR format for PS5. PlayStation has considered VR as a strategic opportunity and a big innovation story. We think there are two themes that you’re going to see: us capturing the technological progress that has taken place since the present VR system came to market and a considerable amount of lessons learned. Because the present system was our first one. [Changes will be] things like moving to a very easy single-cord setup with this one and many other similar learnings. Dev kits are about to go out.

VR is getting a lot more traction now, but it’s still a nascent market. Why make a follow-up to the first headset?

We believe in VR and have been extremely happy with the results with the present PlayStation VR and think that we will do good business with our new VR system for PlayStation 5. More importantly, we see it as something beyond this coming iteration that really could be really big and really important. We like to innovate; we think our community likes us to innovate. I’d turn around the question and say, “Why not?” For us, it’s a very logical step to take. We’re very excited by it and we think that people who are going to make VR games for our new VR system are going to be very excited too.


So the big difference, which you mentioned there, is that it’s going to be one cord that you connect to your PlayStation 5…

That was a very simple and visible illustration of a lesson that we’ve learned from when iterating from the present system to the new one. We’re not actually releasing any specs at this stage. That will start to come over the course of this year when we’ll be talking more.

The PS5’s launch line-up was very bullish. Can we expect the same for this new PS VR?

We’re not saying anything specific today about any developer support, whether it’s our own studios or any of our publishing partners, but obviously we will launch our new VR system with appropriate software support.

Ich hab PSVR ausgelassen, weil ich mir keine PS4 Pro anschaffen wollte und es mir mit der Base PS4 nicht antun wollte.

Auf PSVR2 bin ich allerdings sehr gespannt. Ging eigentlich wieder davon aus, dass es zusammen mit PS5 Pro auf den Markt kommt.

Aber will diesmal auf jeden Fall einsteigen in VR-Gaming.

Könnte für mich durchaus interssant werden. Habe das PS VR 1 ja ausgelassen da ich nur ne Vanilla PS4 hatte und darauf soll das Teil ja angeblich nicht so gut laufen. eine PS4 Pro hätte ich mir nie gekauft außer die Standard PS4 wäre kaputt gegangen was zum Glück bis heute nicht eingetreten ist. Beim PS VR 2 werde ich wohl dabei sein und in die Welt des VR Gaming eintauchen, aber erst etwas später und nicht gleich zum Launch der ja ohnehin noch recht weit in der Zukunft ist.

Ein Kabel ist ein Downer, aber der größte SChwachpunkt war für mich die Verwendung und das Tracking. Am Anfang macht man den Shit noch mit, aber dann dachte ich mir immer öfter...jo das neue PS VR Spiel für das du 60€ ausgegeben hast, oder doch lieber ein Indie auf die Schnelle für 20€? Tja es wurde der Indie, denn wenn man das Headset aufsetzte, alles kalibrierte, vergingen schon mal 20min bevor man irgendwas macht und irgendwann ging der Bezug völlig flöten und ich hörte auf weil die Zeit davon lief.

Dann hast du was "falsch" gemacht oder ich.
Habe es aufgesetzt und konnte bei Resident Evil und VR Worlds fast direkt loslegen.
Ja, bei der absoluten ersten Kalibrierung dauert es etwas länger, weil alles neu ist und man nicht sicher ist, ob alles stimmt.

Kalibrierungen wird es wohl auch mit dem neuen Headset geben.

Ach bei den ersten Malen ging das auch noch. Aber dann gab es Spiele wo die Kalibrierung Scheiße war/ist und wo ich es dann immer wieder machen musste, weil man schnell außerhalb des Blickfelds der Kamera gerät.

Wie gesagt, um VR heutzutage wieder öfters nutzen zu können, will ich das Ding in jedem Spiel aufsetzen, mich um so wenig Kabeln wie nur möglich ärgern müssen und nach einem kurzen "sehen sie hierhin" loslegen können.

Gerade mit dem Alter des ursprünglichen Headsets passierte mir es dann immer öfter, dass es anfing zu driften. Das darf beim Neuen auch nicht mehr der Fall sein.

Also wie viele PSVR Titel kosteten bitte Vollpreis? Kann man an einer Hand abzählen. Und 20min? Also ich hatte das Headset so schnell in Betrieb, bis die PS4 gebootet hatte und konnte 99% der Spiele ohne einstellen von irgendwelchen Parametern (bis auf das normale kalibrieren mit Hand hoch, Hand runter) sofort spielen.

Ich freue mich auf das neue Headset. Das Kabel stört mich jetzt nicht und ich habe lieber ein leichtes Headset. Aber neue Controller klingen so, als ob es nicht abwärtskompatibel ist Werde versuchen wieder Day 1 dabei zu sein.

Vollpreis ist übertrieben, aber ich hab mir viele Spiele Day-1 geholt die ich dann liegen lassen habe, oder auch Vollpreis-Titel mit VR-Modus wegen dem VR gekauft und dann liegen lassen.

Ich muss sagen umso mehr troubles ich mit Kalibrieren hatte umso seltener habe ich es verwendet. Ganz schlimm ist mir dass dann bei Blood & Truth aufgefallen, wo ich dann nach 1h keinen Bock mehr hatte oder bei Wolfenstein VR wo Objekte außerhalb der Kamera waren und ich sie deswegen nicht erreichen konnte.

Das war Day1 noch nicht so und das wäre auch für mich das größte Must-have. Aufsetzen, Kurz Tasten drücken, loslegen und nicht mehr nachjustieren müssen.
Ich hab hier noch das VR auf der PS4 Pro angeschlossen, aber seit der PS5 nicht mehr angeschmissen.

Das könnte echt nice werden. In VR kommt das haptische Feedback bestimmt noch besser. Jetzt noch ein Launchtitel von der Qualität eines HL:Alyx und es wird geil.
