Hacker findet Lösung für Hardware-Mod

Nach der kompletten Offenlegung des PS3-Codes durch Geohot ist es den Hackern auf der Sony-Konsole gelungen raubkopierte Spiele und Homebrew-Anwendungen lauffähig zu machen. Das einzige, was die Bastler-Community stört sind die offiziellen Firmware-Updates durch Sony, für die immer wieder ein neues Schlupfloch gefunden werden muss.

Das könnte sich bald ändern, denn Programmierer darkhacker ist laut eigenen Aussagen einem Hardware-Mod auf der Spur, der einen kompletten Zugriff auf lv2 und Game OS Memory erlauben könnte. Damit rückt ein PS3-Mod-Chip in greifbare Nähe.

Meines Wissens war das nur ein Hinweis auf die Blaupausen der PS3. Und das mit der Resetline des Cell ist schon ziemlich alt. Damit kann man den LV2 Dumpen, was im Prinzip totaler Schwachsinn ist, da man den inzwischen mit Hilfe des Rootkeys entschluesseln kann.

3.60 bringt noch andere Sachen mit sich:

Wow, in 3.60, Sony removed all the loaders, no more isoldr/lv1ldr/lv2ldr/appldr.. but they added lv0.2! Seems they found a way to secure ps3

@xPreatorianx @ChronosWing they can't update or remove it, but very surprisingly, they just bypassed it, it's there but unused..

Humm, looks like lv0.2 is just the SCE header of lv0, just like the spkg, it doesn't contain code in itself... just resigned with securely..

@phantitox nope, no sarcasm.. of course, nothing is secure, but the flaws they had before seem to all be fixed. at least at first glance..

For now, it looks to me (at first glance) that the ps3 has been resecured, but it doesn't mean it can't be broken again from scratch..

@invalidcookie LV0.2 is just the new metadata for lv0 (one encrypted and signed using new bootloader keys (for future consoles)

@ModernJack1 You can downgrade with a nor programmer just fine (On current consoles)

@Cookiedood2 You can on current consoles. It'd also allow you to decrypt the whole boot chain (again)

@Cookiedood2 Basically it's a new metadata for lv0 signed and encrypted with a new key set. (One you can't get the private key for)

@Cookiedood2 By the way 3.60 is the first "unhackable" ps3 firmware. Noticed the lv0.2 ? That's to use with the future bootloader.

@Cookiedood2 The security still relies on the fact that the bootloader keys haven't been leaked. This is a bit weak in my opinion.

Guys, i never wanted to take money from anybody for my work. And i always shared my work and code with PS3 developers and community. Recently i was working on bringing Linux to PS3 back, as you all know, unfortunately SONY managed to stop me. ja davon red ich doch die ganze zeit.
Konsolen bieten ein vorzügliches Umfeld für potente Botnetze.
Leistungsfähige Hardware, in der Regel strunzdumme User die jeden Müll installieren nur um der Frau Geiz vom Saturn zu zeigen wie geiz wirklich geht (immer wieder toll wenn mich auf arbeit gestandene Männer von 45-50 Jahren fragen wie sie die Wii oder den NDS cracken können damit ihre kids alles für umme zocken können), immer am Netz, über eingebautes Rootkit remote konfigurierbar. Wenn da einer nen Angriffsvektor gegen das Rootkit der PS3 findet.. ach das wird super!
