Ono: Street Fighter x Tekken not out for two years, no more big announcements until Captivate

Pumped for Street Fighter x Tekken? Of course you are. Release next year? Not a chance.

Producer on the Capcom side of things Yoshinori Ono has told Famitsu that the game won’t be out for at least two years after its announcement, meaning a 2012 release is on the cards.

The only reason it was revealed during its very early development process – Ono said work began one or two months ago – was to do something for the fans, he said.

Formal talks on a project on this scale began a year ago, although there was discussions between Ono and Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada before that about doing something together.

As for when we can expect to hear any more major announcements for the game, you’re in for a long wait: Captivate 2011 looks set to be where the bombs start dropping.

Ono also said that no information will be passed on to each team on the two development teams for each game. For example, the Namco team won’t be passing info on Tekken x Street Fighter, and vice versa with Capcom and Street Fighter x Tekken.

“We’d like to challenge one-another in all areas, including sales, and get fans of both series excited,” he said.

The mashup was announced last night at ComicCon for PS3 and 360. Get the skinny here.

Street Fighter x Tekken – new shots

Capcom’s released ten new shots of Street Fighter x Tekken via Unity. Get them after the break.

The shots mostly show Ryu, Jin and Nina. Chun-Li’s a no-show; appeared in the gameplay demo on Saturday.

That said, this is Street Fighter x Tekken. Street Fighter x Tekken. Shots are below.

The game, and its opposite Namco Bandai partner, Tekken vs Street Fighter, was announced during Comic-Con on Saturday night for PS3 and 360.

Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono said not to expect it for a long time time yet, with 2012 being the earliest for release.

If you want 3D gameplay, however, there?s always Capcom Street Fighter x Tekken which was announced at Comic-Con last week for 2012.

Street Fighter x Tekken getting European premiere at gamescom

Blimey. Street Fighter x Tekken, announced last month at Comic-Con, will debut in Europe at gamescom in two weeks, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed.

Harada and Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono will be in Cologne to show the game, according to an invite Twitpic’ed by the former.

The invite reads:

“Witness the clash of two Legends of Fighting at gamescom 2010 for the Duel of the Decade. Join the exclusive premiere of Street Fighter x Tekken and meet the makers of the two best fighting games, Yoshinori Ono (Street Fighter) and Katsuhiro Harada (Tekken). Watch as the two fighting game icons Ryu and Kazuya test their might on stage and on screen.

Namco’s just press released it. Despite it being a Capcom-developed title, the former will host the event, as Capcom won’t have a presence in Cologne.

The event itself takes place on the Thursday afternoon at 2pm at Konrad-Adenauer-Saal in the Koelnmesse.

“Our gathering of Street Fighter fans at the special occasion of ComiCon in San Diego was marred when Harada pathetically attempted to bribe everyone present with free copies of his games,” said Ono.

“I’ve properly notified in advance that I will participate in the TEKKEN fan event planned for GamesCom. Since it is by invitation of the TEKKEN team, I expect Harada to have various underhanded surprises planned.

“Knowing this, I still plan to participate in the event while overcoming any obstacles he may have planned so that I can show them what a real fighting game is all about.”
Harada’s added: “After releasing Street Fighter III: Third Strike in 1999, Ono

disappeared from the fighting game scene. Even though there were many requests for a sequel from fighting game fans, and even veteran fighting game developers like myself, Ono, Ryu, Chun Li, and crew failed to show their faces for 10 years.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to settle things at Comi-Con but I’ll face him again this time in Europe – at Cologne! Blows are exchanged in place of civilities – that’s how it’s done at the Mishima Zaibatsu.”

Bring it, innit.

Street Fighter x Tekken will be coming to PS3 and 360, although isn’t due by 2012 at least. After its release, Namco will release Tekken x Street Fighter in its 3D style.

Capcom Prepares a Big Announcement on Street Fighter x Tekken

http://www.diedagain.com/capcom-prepares-a-big-announcement-on-street-fighter-x-tekken
dieses Jahr noch..
meine fresse ein bemu nach dem anderen.
Street Fighter IVproducer Yoshinori Ono has not so subtly hinted to a big announcement via Twitter, saying "We are preparing to make announce for SFxTK!"* Somehow, English sounds more exciting when it's a little broken.* The Street Fighter x Tekkengame was set to be announced at Capcom's own Captivate 2011, and may still be put off until the event in April.* Even so, we're hoping Ono won't wait quite so long to bait the waters.

01.04.11 - Street Fighter-Produzent Yoshinori Ono hat sich gegenüber Guardian über Street Fighter x Tekkenvon Capcom und Tekken x Street Fightervon Bandai Namco geäußert.

Während Capcom an Street Fighter x Tekkenarbeitet, macht Bandai Namco Tekken x Street Fighter.
