We have already seen Durango’s pictures before, the codename for the next-gen Microsoft system. The Alpha Kit is like a computer box. Easy to clone, hard to get one.
I’m so sorry, but Microsoft wants to continue with Kinect in Durango.

The machine working (notice the blu-ray optical disc unit).

What’s inside Durango’s Alpha kit?

We have some details about Durango’s Alpha kit and its components. Bear in mind that these “specs” aren’t final, the ones that Xbox 3/720/Next will have in its final design are bound to vary.

- 8 cores (x64 CPU)

- 12 GB RAM (8 + 4)

The Alpha kit has 12 GB of RAM, rather than the 8 GB in the final design. The extra 4 GB of RAM facilitates development of console system software.

- DirectX 11.x GPU

The Alpha kit uses a discrete graphics card similar in capability and speed to the GPU that will be included in the final design. The card does not have the ESRAM that the final design GPU will.

- 50GB Blu-ray Disk drive

- HDD, etc

Another day, another crazy Xbox 720 rumor. [originaly found on B3D, where it was mocked as unrealistic]
http://misterxmedia.livejournal.com/100515.html
Insider Daily: Nintendo forced MS and Sony to change their specs

Don't put it on your blog please, but you can use main things:
8000+ gnc 2.0 "Venus XTX" based gpu 20mn
8 core Richland x86 cpu With 8000 core series hd apu 28nm
8 or 6 gig of ram
Reports are 4.00+ TFLOP of graphics processing power.

Misterx: ok, by my own words:
- Next xbox x86 officially
- Next xbox will be 4T+ in power. 5T reports are true.
- Next xbox will have 8 to 6 gigs of ram. Sony now target 4gb.
- Sony and MS had phone calls not to put next gen at E3 in order to delay it and make Nin look absolete. after Nintendo changed their 5000 specs to 7000 series specs.
- MS changed 70% of their gpu/cpu design recently after that.
- MS should not delay xbox next
- Next xbox will be a moster for a console. the price should be around $450 but that is not a fact for now.

LOL So, lets recap:
- 8 Piledriver cores in Rochland APU [lower-mainstream segment] + 8000 GPU section, all 28nm
- Modified 8000 dedicated GPU made in 20nm [acording to the released codenames, Venus is a part of 9000 series]
- 6-8gigz
- 4+ Tflops
- Enables pigs to fly.
- 450$

This sounds waaaaaaay over the top, hot and powerhungry. Chances of being real = very very very low.
Seems legit.
Go read through his post history. Durango went through 10 different iterations already.

It used to have a 4 core power7!
16 logical cpus? That's what's inside the alpha kits right now.

16 cores? Not unless the used AMD Interlagos or IBM power pc A2.
Will we see a real generational leap (for Durango, PS 4) or more a small leap like Nintendo is doing with their Wii consoles?
Real generational leap in real world performances. Less impressive on paper.

I know this for a fact.

Microsoft boosts security at Xbox HQ to new level, gearing up for next console
http://www.geekwire.com/2012/microsofts-boosts-security-xbox-hq-advance-hardware/

I will only say this.

Friend works at ******* and told me they have the nextXBOX devkits. He wouldn't tell me specifics about the cpu and gpu and such. But said this to me over chat,

"lets just say that wheny you're developing for the pc 32-bit, 4gb might be the thereotical limit but you normally and only allocate 2gigs. Well, for the new xbox, you can allocate well over 4 gigs

that's all i'm going to say"

Take it what you will.

Backwards compat is a priority for sure.

A common scenario we talk about is the exact scenario you're in, Cuco. It's the same scenario I'm in, and a scenario we see as a *very* high priority one for launch of the next platform.

We anticipate many early adopters will have other 360's in different rooms in the house, but the next box will be the one they'll want connected to their best TV, and the best sound system because the core content that will be on that box will beg for high-end equipment.

We'll want profiles and 360 content to be able to hop between any of those boxes, while reserving the best 'AAAA' "next" content for the box connected in your living room.
I think it's really wise to reserve judgment until you've had a chance to really consider what you want, and what's important.

I can assure everyone here - Microsoft has no intention of orphaning the 360 the way we had to abandon Xbox 1. We're intending families to keep/use their 360's even after they buy into the next gen.

We'll continue supporting 360 in all kinds of ways even after the next gen launch... so anyone who doesn't want to dive directly into next gen will have plenty of content to keep them busy until they do make the plunge.

That said, the new system will rock your world... I can't wait for us to unleash the plan to our customers... because it's finally a plan I think only Microsoft is positioned to deliver. We're finally bringing together ALL of our strengths, and making something that no one else could really truly compete with... I'm sure Sony's next machine will be great, and I'm sure Nintendo's WiiU will have some great games - but I know that neither of them are positioned to truly compete with what we've got on the horizon... it's really, really exciting. I was enthused for our 360 launch, and I was *REALLY* excited about the potential Kinect unleashed to the world of electronics, but this is by far the most excited I've ever been for any of our products, and I've been working at MS for nearly 12 years now.

Phil Harrison (:ugly:) über Microsoft [STRIKE]Game[/STRIKE] Studios:
"We are now really a multiplatform studio," he told the audience. "We are not just building games for Xbox 360, we're building experiences for smart glass, we're building dedicated games for Windows Phone 8 and for Windows 8."
"We're no longer just competing with the traditional console companies, but our competitive landscape includes the likes of Google, the likes of Amazon, it includes obviously the likes of Apple."
He also went on to shed some light on the recently announced tablet and mobile phone studio in London, headed up by former Rare developer Lee Schuneman.

"We are trying to build a new kind of studio," he said. "We describe it as being a 21st Century studio.

"It will not make retail products. It will be making products largely based on the Windows 8 platform and technologies. And it's more about exploring new business models and pioneering new ways to play on devices that we think are going to be powering the future of our industry over the next five or ten years. We're hiring from the console industry, the web 2.0 industry and from the online gaming industry."
