When you really know what you're doing it's a sight to behold; I'm getting goosebumps imagining the full game. After finding all 4 weapons(actual weapons, not the toys young Noctis fights with), and really getting the hang of their respective special moves, I'm having so much fun just toying with Iron Giant. I haven't seen many people explore the combat too deeply, so I'll note a few things:
-Pressing back while attacking with the sword does a backflip dodge, which is followed up with a warp strike after letting go of forward. Watch out because this cost about 10mp each time.
-While in the air you can hold left or right while attacking to warp strike around the enemy, works with each weapon I think. Haven't really tried this on the ground. Another useful way to stylishly dodge during combat if timed right. Use this sparingly as this also takes MP.
-After stunning Giant with a few strikes with the buster sword, you can hold attack to charge an attack for bigger damage. I'm really not entirely sure how to set this up, but you'll notice him reel back after a few strikes, after which holding circle starts Noctis into a blue charge state. I believe this also takes mp, didn't check.
-The Hero Shield can parry just about any attack by pressing square right as he swipes. Follow with armiger activation, then a warp strike for maximum style.
-The Kunai have a pretty sweet air (charge?) attack that hit's multiple times. Good if you have a hard on for Sasuke, you basically are him during this move. Not sure if this one costs MP, but I do remember someone mentioning a Kunai attack that takes MP.
-I haven't messed around with it, but accidentally pulled this off. After parrying you can retaliate with a fire cast. This is the same combo we've seen in earlier gameplay demo's I believe.
-Combat is best paired with L1 lock on in my opinion. This allows you to quickly execute maneuvers not available while locked on with R3. As soon as he's about to cast an unavoidable attack like gravity or his ground pound, you can let go of L1 and press triangle to warp out of there, stylishly so. Also goes good with a warp strike counter. If timed well you can get off a Fire cast after he's started Gravity to knock him out of it, which stuns him. (Need to double check on that last part)
-The farther away you are(maybe only the higher?), the stronger a warp strike becomes. This is a bit of an issue with me, as it doesn't take long to realize you can simply loop him by hanging from the building, stunning him with warp strike, getting in some hits, repeat. I really doubt they would overlook something this obviously broken though, and I'm sure it won't be as easily abused in the final game.
-Finally I'd like to point out just how diverse this dudes move set is? Further backs just how crazy the rest of the game must be. He is pretty dumb though. Hoping it's just the nature of the demo getting in the way of his AI?
