Everything is in Japanese unfortunately. I chose Keats. You can choose either character. The intro story is like a real time comic book with text bubbles.
There are no voices yet, everything is text.
There are a lot of strange creatures like this giant pig and the bartender in this pub is a tree.
I should mention that the camera is not adjustable though it is not fixed either. It moves with the character, either in front or behind (in front is annoying because I can't see ahead of myself.
As Keats, you start out on some cliffs near the ocean then I wandered to some beach where Ellen was lying in a boat and some girl said something. Then I ended up in a house and it's night time. I go to a pub and a character with a masquerade mask and no face talks to Keats and explains something. I go to this stonehenge-like place and go in a cave to meet the masked face dude from earlier.
The game looks great, but playing it on an SDTV like I am seems awkward. It looks like it wasn't meant for it at all. Everything is squished, but not too severely.
Inside the cave, there's a green pathway and gate. I walked in and Keats went to this very colourful fantasy type world. The masked guy seems to be a guide of some sort. Anyway, I reached my first battle. I pressed square to attack though I think there are other buttons to use in the future. The camer is now adjustable using the standard right analog stick controls. Before you couldn't pause the game or do anything like that, but after getting the first ID you can pause the game to look at the soul list. There's a certain number of IDs to collect for each type of monster I think. The first one in the demo has up to 5.
