Valve: Portal 2 to get full Steam experience on PS3

Valve has confirmed how the Steam elements of the PS3 version of Portal 2 are going to work, saying the game will provide cross-platform matchmaking, gameplay, friends, chat, and achievements.



The PS3 version of Portal 2 is to have a Steam overlay, presumably in the same vein as the one you’re familiar with on PC.

The overlay gives access to both PSN and Steam friends. It will display their in-game or online status and providing a pathway to text chats, player profiles, friend requests, and game invites.

Steam Achievements are earned in lockstep with PSN Trophies and are also accessible within the Steam overlay.

The game will be Steam Cloud-enabled, and will save both both co-op game progress and single-player play remotely, meaning you’ll be able to pick up and carry on from any PS3 you like.

The PS3 version of Steam will require you to link your PSN account with a Steam account, which is done within the game.

A Steam user can login to an existing account, and anyone new to Steam can create an account easily.

As previously reported linked players of the PS3 version of Portal 2 can also access and play their copy of Portal 2 on any PC or Mac by redeeming an in-box access code on their computer.

The Steam client verifies the linked customer and then lists Portal 2 among their desktop Steam library.

Im Endeffekt bedeutet das für die Meisten nur, dass man jetzt Trophies und Steam-Erfolge freischaltet
Wie gut das funkt, wenn man mit Leuten am PC zusammen zockt muss sich erst zeigen.

Das Spiel wird kein Splitscreen Coop haben oder? Wäre ja nicht so schlimm wegen PC/PS3 Crossplay

Die Cross-platform Features sind sicherlich ein interessanter Ansatz, auf der anderen Seite brechen sie das Konsolenmodell "1 Account für alles" (Genauso wie EA Spiele).

Funktioniert Portal 2 ohne Steam? Ist der beiliegende Code gleichzeitig ein Online-Pass?

Ich bin mir immer noch unschlüssig ob ich die PS3 Version nehmen soll. Gut die PC Version ist ja auch dabei aber bei Portal 1 gab es schon Momente wo man recht schnell reagieren musste, was ich glaube mit nem Pad nicht hingekriegt hätte. Oder weil sie es jetzt auf Konsolen auch umsetzen wird es allgemein etwas ruhiger.

Das drückt sich aber um die Frage, was ohne den Code oder Steam möglich ist.

Da allerdings "Can two players play online co-op with each other using a single purchase of Portal 2 for PlayStation®3?" mit nein beantwortet wird, muß es sich um einen Onlinepass handeln .

Alles sehr verwirrend. Wenn ich http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427259&page=13 lese kann man auch ohne Code online spielen, aber nur gegen PS3 Spieler.

würde es ohne online zu sein nicht spielbar sein wäre der Satz überflüssig.

Der Singleplayer wird ohne Steam spielbar sein, aber ich denke mal der Koop und Multiplayer setzen Steam vorraus.

Steam hat aber wohl auch einige Vorteile zum Bsp. Cross-Game-Chat mit anderen Steam Freunden.

Wenn Sony schlau ist setzen sie in der nächsten Generation gleich komplett auf Steam, dann hätten sie wenigstens ein ordentliches Online Netzwerk.

da gehn die meinungen über steam auch weit auseinander ich hab da auch ne geteilte meinung hab schon einige negative erfahrungen gemacht mit steam aber teilweise is es schon sehr nice

ich wills ja eigentlich eh nur auf dem pc spielen
wie ist das denn mit der ps3 version? die kann man ja ohne steam aktivierung spielen und mit. das heißt doch,wenn ich den steam key benutzen will,muss ich die ps3 version an steam binden. wenn ichs weiterverkaufe,kann doch derjenige trotzdem ohne steam spielen, nur die steam bindung mit der ps3 klappt nicht mehr? die steam bindung sorgt für den multiplayer und für die updates oder? sonst spielt man nur den singleplayer.

weil ich kann mir nicht vorstellen,dass man das ganze spiel an den account bindet, wenn man doch auch ohne steam pflicht auf der ps3 spielen kann.
