Anonymous and LulzSec hacking suspect arrested

Spokesperson for the groups picked up by police in the Shetland Islands

Police have arrested an 18-year-old hacking suspect thought to have been acting as a spokesperson for Anonymous and LulzSec under the online nickname Topiary.

The teenage man was picked up by police in the Shetland Islands yesterday as part of ongoing investigations into the hacking groups, the BBC reports.

Police are also said to be searching a house in Lincolnshire and interviewing a 17-year-old boy arrested as part of a "pre-planned intelligence-led operation".

Last month LulzSec denied reports it was disbanding, stating that it would drop its name but continue to work within Anonymous. Both groups have been heavily linked to the PlayStation Network hack in April.

This award is to honor a person or company's spectacularly epic FAIL. And the nominees are:

  After Fail0verflow and GeoHot published how to jailbreak the PS3, Sony got a bit miffed. Apparently unfamiliar with how the Internet works and how difficult it is to remove the piss from a swimming pool, Sony proceeded to try erase the information from the Internet and sue GeoHot et al. into oblivion. Needless to say, this was about as successful as the MiniDisc.
• Sony
  Speaking of piss in a swimming pool, that just happened to be how well Sony protected their Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) users' account info and roughly 25 to 77 million account details were stolen by unknown hackers. That metaphor makes just about no sense at all, but you get the point: FAIL.

  Sony is definitely good at one thing: keeping the hits coming and their fans entertained. Oh wait, did we say Sony? We meant LulzSec. I guess that counts as another FAIL for Sony.

  After learning the hard way that their PlayStation Network was about as porous as air, Sony had to shut it down for over two months to rebuild it from scratch. In doing so, they made everyone from your 8-year old cousin to your barber learn about the importance of security. Hooray for us, sorry Sony shareholders.

  Noticing a pattern here? But wait, it gets better. Sony might have been able to better repel the multitude of attacks if they hadn't just recently laid off a significant number of their network security team. Great timing, guys.

also ein beweis dafür könnte sein das ich alle 2-3 tage 10 fehlgeschlagene Login versuche auf den email adressen hab auf denen bei mir nen PSN acc läuft. auf den anderen hab ich das nicht ... eine von denen ist NUR fürs PSN gewesen, hab ich sonst nirgendwo angegeben.

Wirklich seltsam, es sind "nur" ein paar Einzelfälle von Vorgängen, die einen Zusammenhang mit dem PSN Datenklau vermuten lassen. Würden die Daten in großem Stil mißbraucht müßte man viel mehr lesen.

Kann auch sein, dass man die Mail-Adressen von wo anders (im Zusammenhang mit Sony) geklaut hat. Sprich eine Website mit Gewinnspiel, eine Trophy-Seite, usw.

Ja und? Darf er doch. Bzw dürfte er das bei uns. Gibt ja bei uns auch Shops die das anbieten. Ich mach das sogar bei mir im Freundeskreis. So what?! Sein Pech ist nur dass es dort illegal ist.

Gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, entweder wusste er es und es war ihm egal - selbst schuld
oder er wusste es nicht und hat sich bewusst nicht informiert - selbst schuld.

So oder so, wenn man mit etwas (halb)professionell Geld verdienen will, sollte man die Gesetze des eigenen Landes kennen.
Aber das is nur ein kleiner Fisch, den werden sie schon nicht aufhängen.

in südafrika wirst wegen ganz anderen dingen erschoßen..
Ist jetzt OT, aber das is da schon sehr krass.
An anderen Orten wird dir an der Kreuzun der Wagen geklaut und wenn du dich wehrst kannst du erschossen werden.
In Südafrika erschießen sie dich direkt, du könntest dich ja evtl wehren...

Ich hab hier eine PS3 mit ner 3.55 CFW rumstehen und keine Verwendung dafür. Kann man die so einfach verkaufen? Im Grunde wäre es mir Wurst, würde aber so weniger Arbeit bedeuten.

Ja, aber z.B. ebay löscht afaik derartige Artikel. Wenn dich Sony nicht mag verklagen sie dich - ich habe aber nichts in diese Richtung bei Privatverkäufen gehört.

Damit machst du wahrscheinlich auch deutlich mehr Geld.
Es gibt einfach potentiell zu wenige Leute die wissen, was eine CFW ist und was man mit (C)FW 3.55 überhaupt machen kann.

Nach Hacker-Angriff: PlayStation Network gewinnt über 3 Mio. Neukunden

Sony gibt bekannt, dass das PlayStation Network mehr als 3 Mio. Neukunden seit der Wiederinbetriebnahme im Juni 2011 gewonnen hat. Das PSN wurde zuvor für mehrere Wochen abgeschaltet, nachdem es im April 2011 gehackt wurde.

"Es freut mich, sagen zu können, dass das PSN sicherer und besser ist als jemals zuvor", so Firmenpräsident Howard Stringer auf der IFA. "Wir erweitern aggressiv die PSN-Inhalte. Wir haben mehr als 3 Mio. neue Kunden bekommen, seit das Netzwerk wieder online ist, und die Verkäufe sind höher als vor den Cyberattacken."
