I've been a PlayStation gamer since the 90s and never once thought about buying an Xbox of any kind. I also respect Xbox gamers. I also have never enjoyed Tomb Raider so this does not affect me at all.
But purchasing the exclusivity of a series as beloved on various platforms as Tomb Raider is, is just a very sinister thing to do. Same goes with Titanfall. Sony does exclusive partnerships right: form a mutually beneficial relationship with a studio from the start, and eventually acquire them, building a collection of talented studios alongside internal studios. Example: Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, soon Quantic Dream. That, to me, seems like the cool way to do it. It makes gamers want a PlayStation.
Just throwing money at publishers so that their next big game only comes to your new platform that you ate desperately trying to sell, and then forcing long-time fans of a certain franchise or genre is the cheap shot thing to do.
Microsoft has really hurt their public image with the Xbox One, IMO. With their low plans like online-only, no used games, no self-publishing, must buy a Kinect, etc. And then, their plans are universally hated, forcing them to backtrack. They just seem like the villain corporation who doesn't care for their community. Do not understand why anybody would put up with their shit.
