Noch ein längerer Text:
Before PS4 and Xbox One were revealed, I remember having frank discussions with plenty of "insiders" while I was doing an observorship in Washington.

I talked to too many people (IRL and on GAF) who pretended to be somebody else, or were parroting information handed from tertiary sources. Eventually I found a few people who were spot on, and some who provided me with concrete evidence (the names of the Onion/Garlic, specific title names in development, and sheets that have still yet to leak).

However, what is relevant to the discussion was the paranoia at the time. Microsoft, I, and the rest of the developer community sternly believed Sony was going to go with 4 GB of GDDR5. Developers, engineers, and programmers all wrote off the PS4 as having a huge handicap with a distinct compute edge. However, unanimously they agreed mutliplatform titles would perform better on Xbox One.

I was having dinner with a GAF member / Microsoft employee before the February 20th Sony event, who told me Sony would be at a distinct disadvantage and should have bet the farm on RAM. Later in the week, BruceLeeRoy (who I personally know in real life) and I had both heard from a source that Sony had upped the RAM on PS4.

Bruce and I had numerous phone discussions about how this was possible, I contacted Jschrier from Kotaku, and even Richard Leadbetter, because this source who had provided me with 100% information in the past, was telling me that Sony upgraded the RAM (he didn't tell me how much). Not a single person corroborated.

In any case, internally at Microsoft before PS4 was announced they had a document which had expectations for PS4. The most interesting line was this:
"Estimate PS4 performance to be roughly 12-16X PS3".

They didn't mention anything about RAM, but I heard no one expected 8 GB GDDR5.

Fast forward to post February 20th and thats when the rumor mill and insiders became a little bizarre. I heard things like Microsoft had optimized hardware for dynamic resolutions, frame interpolation (120 hz modes to fake a 60 fps), and the magical power of the cloud. I gave up eventually, and E3 had come to pass.

It's been a wild ride, but I still remember the day February 20th happened, I received a text from an employee at MS that read: "GG MS". You are on GAF, and you know who you are :).

Microsoft will ‘reintroduce’ the Xbox One at press event
Microsoft will ‘reintroduce’ the Xbox One in a live press event that is intended as a fresh start in their relationship with the media and consumers. They will directly address the concerns about the Xbox One and start generating positive momentum in time for the November launch.

According to an inside source after the E3 conference there was a massive and frantic ‘internal review’ of every aspect of the Xbox One compared to Sony’s direction with PlayStation.

The 24 hour check-in and disc-DRM policy was reversed to prevent the negative press becoming so widespread that it damaged the Xbox brand. Every other criticism has also been examined to see if it can be improved. Multiple changes have been made and Microsoft feel confident in a product they know the public will respond well to.

There have been discussions about creating price parity between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by reducing the Xbox One price to $399/€399. Conversation has centred on bigger losses per unit sold versus loss of sales traction.

Microsoft will make public their plans for Gamescom later this week. It’s expected they will be hosting a press event presented by Phil Spencer, the vice president of Microsoft Game Studios and Phil Harrison, the corporate vice president of Interactive Entertainment.

Smart Match Finds the Perfect Players for the Perfect game

Smart Match on Xbox One is completely reengineered for a new generation of gaming – using advanced algorithms to pair players based on skill, language, and now reputation. It’s smarter, faster and optimized to help you play with exactly the people you want, when you want. The advanced party system goes far beyond the beacons of Xbox 360, which was limited to people you already knew. Helping you discover and connect easily with players is now central to the experience. In addition, for the first time, games will be able to share player stats with Xbox Live and each other; to learn, evolve, and provide you with the best possible matchmaking available.

The results? Titles have the ability to match you with other players based on reputation (which we will be talking more about in a post tomorrow), skill, language, age, and even your specific gameplay style. You won’t find yourself in way over your head but you’ll always have a good challenge.
Smart Match Frees Up Your Time

With Smart Match, you can do whatever you want while Xbox One finds your perfect match. This means that less popular multiplayer modes and maps that have traditionally taken a long time to find players suddenly become playable. Because Snap mode is a core feature of Xbox One that lets you do two things at once, you no longer have to wait in lobbies while Xbox Live is matchmaking for you. One friend can even set up matches for your whole party.

While Xbox Live is matchmaking, you’re untethered and free to do what you want, like watch TV or check out your favorite website or apps while waiting for your next game. If you’re playing digital games, you can even play one game while Smart Match prepares a second. This freedom to break out of waiting in lobbies and do whatever you want is what separates Xbox One from systems that don’t have a way to instantly switch between tasks.

Even here, we should prepare for a much more pleasant aural experience compared to the current-gen consoles - and not just because the optical drive will be inactive during gameplay.
Spekulation.

AMD's Jaguar CPU architecture is also highly energy efficient - it's designed with tablets in mind. Even factoring in the DDR3, ESRAM and custom silicon, we should expect see a complete system power draw that's a world away from the 'power at all costs' approach to the launch versions of the Xbox 360 and PS3, which used in the region of 170-200W.
Notebooks doch eigentlich?

Im still pretty disappointed with the next gen consoles and have been pretty suprised about the positive reaction gamers have given, when the 360 was announced we got a gpu that was more powerful than even the highest end PC now were getting a card thats 3 generations behind the Titan, cost didnt matter because 1.lifecycle 10 years is a long time the tech gets cheaper 2.buying hardware in huge bulk reduces cost of component and sales are practically guaranteed to be in the millions creating a healthy margin for the future 3.other revenue streams'software'advertising'apps'movies etc plenty for the company to recoup costs, more than ever before infact,as a consumer its disappointing that were not getting as good a deal as last gen,MS have made healthy profits with the 360 in the last few years even with the red ring fiasco and I fail to see why they cant take a hit again for the first year or 2 this gen.

Offizielle Zahlen: GPU Takt beträgt 853Mhz, statt vorher 800MHz.

Update: The podcast referenced in the original story is now live. As we reported earlier, the GPU speed has been increased from 800 MHz to 853 MHz, the Xbox One has entered internal hardware beta, and the operating system is currently being polished.

You can listen for yourself here.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...announce-upgraded-gpu-speed-for-xbox-one.aspx

Microsoft corporate vice president Marc Whitten speaks about some changes and additions Microsoft has made to the Xbox One since E3, including a 53mhz bump to the GPU speed.
"this is the time, and this is the thing I think people are going to see as we get into Gamescom and people get their first look at new things since E3. This is the time where developers have the final dev kits in their hands, they're really working closely with us on how things have come together. There's some things that have really started to come together quite well."
New additions to the Xbox One hardware since it was last shown at E3 include a new graphics driver and an increase to the GPU's clock speed, says Whitten.

"Since E3, an example is that we've dropped in what we internally call our mono driver. It's our graphics driver that really is 100 percent optimised for the Xbox One hardware. You start with the base [DirectX] driver, and then you take out all parts that don't look like Xbox One and you add in everything that really optimises that experience. Almost all of our content partners have really picked it up now, and I think it's made a really nice improvement."

"This is the time where we've gone from the theory of how the hardware works--what do we think the yield is going to look like, what is the thermal envelope, how do things come together--to really having them in our hands. That's the time where you start tweaking the knobs. Either your theory was right dead on, or you were a little too conservative, or you were a little too aggressive. It's actually been really good news for us, and an example of that is we've tweaked up the clock speed on our GPU from 800mhz to 853mhz."
