As someone who doesn't really play these games, I looked up that Dragon Slayer flowchart and did some Wikipedia research to figure out what people are talking about in here. As I understand it:

Legend of Heroes
Legend of Heroes 1 is the sixth-ish game in the Dragon Slayer series and the start of its own subseries. It came out on TG-16.
Legend of Heroes 3, 4, and 5 were the three Legend of Heroes games that Namco released here early in the PSP lifespan.
Trails in the Sky is Legend of Heroes 6 part 1; games since Trails in the Sky use the Trails/Kiseki naming scheme instead of the Legend of Heroes naming scheme.
Trails in the Sky SC, coming ???? TBA ???? 2015 is Legend of Heroes 6 part 2
Trails of Cold Steel is Legend of Heroes ( 8 ) part 1, but they don't use the number 8 in Japan, but it's the one after Legend of Heroes 7 so I'm just going to call it 8.
They are skipping Legend of Heroes 7 because of size and licensing issues
They do intend to release Legend of Heroes 6 part 3 at some point but no ETA
Edit: There was also a spinoff of the Trails/Legend of Heroes series around the same time as Legend of Heroes 7, but that spinoff is an action RPG and not currently being localized and is not numbered.

Xanadu
Xanadu Next (The sixth game in the Xanadu series) was originally released in 2005 and is not related to Tokyo Xanadu (the seventh game in the Xanadu Series), which was recently announced for Japan and we don't have an ETA for release. Xanadu itself is the second game in the Dragon Slayer series.

Corpse Party

Corpse Party Blood Drive is a sequel to Corpse Party Book of Shadows which is a spinoffsequel of Corpse Party. Separately, there's a spinoff-sequel called Corpse Party 2U which has a humourous tone. Separately from either of these things, there's a Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient, but XSEED is not currently talking about localizing that.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter - Localization Blog
XSEED appears to have started a localization blog series for Trails in the Sky SC. Jess has written the first entry, about the trials of editing Trails.
Trails in the Sky SC’s text is done. I announced this back in January when I passed in the last file, but I think even those who know can sit back and appreciate that statement one more time. Trails in the Sky SC, a game that’s been baking in Gehenna’s oven for almost four years now, is finally on its way to something like an actual release date.
While I went through the main scenario text I also ran each major scene by a recorded playthrough of the game. SC’s main scenario is roughly twice the size of FC’s (*please see the “Dirty Breakdown”) and has more Olivier than ever. Based on just that alone, I think I can assure you guys with some certainty that you’re going to enjoy the hell out of the story. You’ll also probably need a spreadsheet to keep track of all the citizens of Liberl since they refused to stay in their respective regions and kept getting married and going on pilgrimages and…

New The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki in development
Regarding the Evolution series…

Koganezawa: “Right now, we haven’t decided anything. of course, if this game [The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Evolution] does well, there’s the potential to create a followup.”

Kondo: “Personally, I think it’d be interesting if we could recreate The Legend of Heroes 3: The White Witch with today’s technology.”

Regarding the future of the Kiseki series…

Kondo: “Although there’s still some way to go before release, we’re making progress on a Sen no Kiseki sequel set in the Erebonian Empire. However, the story is stretching out more than we thought it would, so now we’re considering what to do about the volume. For now, please wait by playing Trails in the Sky Evolution and Tokyo Xanadu.”

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is Listed on GAME Retailer

We’ve gotten wind of a potential development regarding Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki being localized.

The potential leak comes from European retailer GAME (thanks DM!) who listed “Trails of Cold Steel” for both Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita. Both versions are listed for October 25th of this year, but curiously under the publisher Namco [Bandai].

The name by itself appears to be a subtitle, and it is, if you’ve followed our previous coverage regarding the game.

Back in January, internet sleuths discovered that XSEED had registered a domain for “Trails of Cold Steel,” giving more legitimacy towards the game being finally localized. For now, classify this as a rumor as we await a comment from GAME Spain.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
[Platform: PS3™ system, PS VITA; Release: Fall 2015] – Revealed for the first time in North America, this RPG adventure from Nihon Falcom’s acclaimed The Legend of Heroes franchise, known in Japan as Sen no Kiseki, improves on the series’ formula and features an expertly told storyline that both longtime Trails veterans and newcomers alike can enjoy equally. Taking place on the same continent as fan-favorite Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel is the first game in the series to tread Erebonian soil and explore the inner political conflicts of this oft-mentioned powerhouse in detail. With a standalone story that also delves into the expansive lore that has become synonymous with the series, players take on the role of military students at a time of great turmoil, enjoying school life and bonding with fellow students to earn new abilities in battle, then utilizing those abilities via speedy, tactical turn-based combat with the newly-developed “ARCUS” system. Best of all, this epic storyline can be unraveled either from home or on the go with Cross-Save functionality between the game’s PS Vita and PS3 editions.
NIS America will be publishing the PAL version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.

I don't think it'll ever TRULY be out of QA hell -- I imagine we'll continue finding little sniggly issues long after launch, and fixing them via patch on the PC version -- but yeah, our for-reals QA process is over and the game is in master testing.

The goal is nigh!

XSEED Games has released a new story trailer and gameplay video of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, its Falcom-developed RPG due out for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in North America and Europe this holiday season.

Here’s a rundown of the game, via XSEED:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel builds on Nihon Falcom’s acclaimed The Legend of Heroes franchise, known in Japan as Sen no Kiseki, by improving on the series’ formula while delivering the same sort of expertly told narrative series fans have come to expect. Taking place on the same continent as fan-favorite Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel is the first game in the series to explore Erebonian soil, giving players a chance to delve deep into the inner political conflicts of this oft-mentioned and powerful empire.

In the game, players take on the role of specially-selected elite military students at a time of great turmoil, enjoying school life and bonding with fellow students to earn new abilities in battle, then utilizing those abilities via speedy, tactical turn-based combat with the newly-developed “ARCUS” system. The standalone story also delves into the expansive lore that has become synonymous with the series. Best of all, the epic storyline can be unraveled with Cross-Save functionality between the game’s PS Vita and PS3 editions, allowing players to play at home or on the go.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC Comes Out Next Week

Yesterday, the publisher XSEED tweeted a picture of pigs flying. Today it’s clear why: Trails in the Sky SC is actually coming out. NEXT WEEK. On October 29.

It’s been four and a half years since XSEED released the first chapter of Trails in the Sky—an excellent RPG that ends on a tantalizing cliffhanger—and since then, fans have been bugging the publisher non-stop about the second game. It’s been a nightmare to publish, for many, many reasons including script size, technical issues, and all sorts of interpersonal drama.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1128698
I’ve been planning a big feature that tells the whole story of Trails SC, so you can expect that at some point soon. For now, all you have to know is that Trails is an excellent game and that the second chapter will be out on PC and PSP (aka: Vita) next week. FINALLY.
The game will retail for $29.99 in the US on the PlayStation™Store and PC digital platforms GOG.com and Steam. The PSP® system release is compatible with the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system. A release on the European PS®Store will follow closely behind this North American debut, with more details to be shared shortly.

Geil endlich :D
Und kurz darauf kommt das Thread Spiel dann auch zu uns!

One day in March of last year, video game writer Andrew Dice wrote out a check for all of his company’s money. He stuck it in the doorframe at his business partner’s apartment in Portland, Oregon, then went back to his own place. (They live in the same complex.) He closed all the windows. Then, as he tells it, he laid down on his bed and picked up a knife, preparing to plunge it into his chest.

He was interrupted by pounding on the door, he says: It was Robin Light-Williams, his partner. Dice thought for a few seconds, then put the knife down and let his friend in. They talked for a while, and Dice decided not to kill himself.

...

Up to that point, Dice and Light-Williams had spent nearly three years working on the English localization for said “bad project”—a role-playing game called The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter. It’s taken nearly half a decade for Second Chapter to come out in English, and those who have worked on localization of the game say it was a hellish undertaking. Given the size of the script—over three million Japanese characters—and the many obstacles the game faced on its route to U.S. shores, employees at the publisher XSEED saw it as their white whale. To describe SC’s localization as “challenging” would be like describing the Pacific Ocean as “damp.”

Trails SC finally came out last week in North America for the PC and, unbelievably, the PSP, Sony’s second-most-recent handheld gaming system. That it came out at all is nothing short of a miracle.
It wasn’t long before the editors at XSEED realized just how much of a burden they’d put on their shoulders. At 1.5 million Japanese characters, the first Trails in the Sky was much bigger than anything they’d published before, more akin to a visual novel than a traditional RPG. There were hundreds of non-player characters, each with their own names and personalities and lines upon lines of dialogue to translate and edit. XSEED editor Jessica Chavez spent nine months crunching non-stop—14 hours a day, six days a week—just to get through it all.

“When I finally finished it I’d dropped ~10% of my body weight and was down to 99lbs,” she told me in an e-mail earlier this year. She said she cut off 18 inches of her hair “in some sort of retaliation for the headaches the weight of it had given me while working.”
“Falcom was still so disillusioned from the less-than-stellar launch of Trails FC on PSP earlier that year, they weren’t ready to commit to SC just yet,” Berry told me. Falcom also wouldn’t commit to greenlighting PC versions of FC and SC, which would be essential to make the finances work; everyone presumed they wouldn’t sell many copies on the PSP, but they thought maybe they could carve out a nice audience in the world of personal computers.
XSEED’s Brittany Avery, a self-proclaimed Kiseki fangirl, played through all of SC multiple times just to check terminology and ensure that all the pieces fit just right. It was a rigorous process, exacerbated by all sorts of bugs and issues that XSEED has documented on their blog. (One of my favorites: random text blow-ups.)

The more you play it, the more you QA it, the more issues you’re gonna find, especially with the text,” Berry said. “For example someone like Brittany here in the office that’s a huge Kiseki fan, the more she would dive into the text, the more she would want to make adjustments, saying well this isn’t quite right because in FC this happened, or this is foreshadowing something that’s gonna happen later in the game but it’s not written the right way.”
